If you've used a Singapore traffic camera app before, you probably remember flipping through dozens of expressway cameras — PIE, CTE, AYE, and the rest — to see what the road ahead looked like. As of 30 June 2026, that's gone.
LTA discontinued its general expressway camera image feeds. It wasn't a bug,
a rate limit, or a regional restriction — it's a real, permanent change on
LTA's side, confirmed directly against onemotoring.lta.gov.sg. The
Traffic-Imagesv2 API that used to return images for every expressway
gantry now only returns cameras for three locations:
- Woodlands Checkpoint
- Tuas Checkpoint
- Sentosa Gateway
That's 8 cameras in total, down from the full expressway network this app originally shipped with. We rebuilt around that reality rather than fight it — those three crossings now get full treatment: live cameras, congestion badges computed from LTA's speed-band data, and a typical-congestion heatmap built from logged history.
One thing that didn't change: the underlying speed-band data
(TrafficSpeedBands) that powers the congestion badges. LTA only pulled the
camera images — the live congestion numbers everywhere in this app,
including the Route Planner's congestion overlay, are unaffected.
If you're planning a route through the CBD or an expressway that used to have a camera, you won't get a live snapshot of it anymore — but you'll still get live congestion coloring on the Route Planner, sourced from the same speed-band feed LTA never turned off.
